our story

O’Eclat Designs (pronounced O-Eyklah) is an African premium accessories brand that elevates indigenous craftsmanship through contemporary and functional designs.

Simple, elegant, and kind to the people and planet.

Founded in Lagos in 2010 by Gbemisola Johnson, O’Eclat was born from a simple frustration, the perfect handbag didn’t exist. So she made it. Weaving indigenous fabrics like Aso Oke, Adire, Sarki etc into premium leather, she built a brand where African heritage meets contemporary design.

Featured in Vogue UK, Marie Claire, BellaNaija, and Genevieve Magazine — and twice recognised at the Independent Handbag Designer Award for social responsibility.

"Sustainability is not just a choice—it’s a responsibility''

The Bag-to-School Project was launched to provide school bags for underprivileged children in rural communities. With every handbag sold, we support this initiative, and to date, over 1,000 school bags have been donated to children in need.
